The Story

Garth Bakery Ltd is a private company, which has its roots firmly based in the South Wales area.


The company was formed on 3rd October 1983 by its two Directors Alan James and Ken Brewer. The original bakery was a rented site on Garth Industrial Estate, hence the name, in Taffs Well near Cardiff.

At that time, there were three van sales operating from the bakery. The products were produced by two bakers whilst the office was manned by one person making a grand total of six people when the company was first formed.

The company expanded quickly over the first three years, and Alan and Ken decided to find a site for a bigger bakery. This was realised on 4th October 1986 when Garth Bakery moved to a purpose built factory at our present site. The work force at this time had grown to twenty eight.

Over the following years through aggressive selling and quality of service and products, the company continued to grow so much so that two extensions have been added to accommodate the extra business that was forthcoming.

We have always concentrated on our crusty bread rolls and morning goods trade.

We produce approximately 300,000 rolls every week. Our crusty bread and morning goods are mostly hand crafted.

We have served most of the schools in South Wales for over twenty five years, and Asda stores for twelve years. We also serve the Coop stores and the convenient sector in South Wales. Most recently we have started delivering to the Tesco central distribution centre at Avonmouth, serving twenty eight Tesco stores.

At the present time we employ seventy two loyal and committed staff and run a fleet of twenty two vehicles.
